Though Telangana BJP leaders claims day in and out that they will certainly win double digit seats from the state in Lok Sabha polls, they are lagging behind in getting ready for the polls. Hardly any enthusiastic preparations to face the challenges polls seen from the state BJP leadership.
Most of the top leaders, including union minister and state president G Kishan Reddy, OBC Morcha chief Dr K Lakshman and National Vice President D K Aruna are seen in media conferences only. Former state chief and presently national general secretary Bandi Sanjay too confined to his constituency.
Except three sitting MPs, Kishan Reddy, Bandi Sanjay and D Aravind, all other candidates are not originally from BJP’s ideology. Most of them joined the party very recently. Hyderabad candidate Madhavi Latha is yet to join as a member of the party, formally.
As a result, hard-core BJP cadre seems to be not showing interest in BJP candidates and their poll campaign. Hardly any attempts are made to integrate party cadres and `outside’ leaders. The BJP state leadership is said to come under fire from the party high command for its lack of preparedness for the ensuing Lok Sabha polls.
Party senior leaders hardly showing interest in streamlining the party organisationally. Party high command wondered over the fact that not even 50 percent of booth committees have been formed in the state. It was found most of the booth committees are being formed on the basis of voters list, without adhering to 23 guidelines, issued by the party.
BJP general secretary Sunil Bansal, who looks after organisational matters of the party in the state, reportedly expressed anger over the State leadership not completing the task of forming booth committees.
Even during the assembly elections, the State leadership was pulled up by union Home Minister Amit Shah for not forming booth committees in all the assembly segments. Sources say the party could not perform well in the assembly polls as it could not form booth committees in all the assembly segments.
Without much preparations and gearing up the organisation, the state party gave a detailed programme schedule for the party candidates, contesting in the polls, so as to familiarise with the voters. The first such event will be to hold a ‘Tiffin Baitak’ in every polling booth in the State on April 6, the BJP formation day.
On that day the party leaders will hold meetings in all the booths in the State and discuss the implementation of the action plan of the party. Apart from this street-corner meetings will be organised with small gatherings of about 200 people in every Assembly constituency, the sources said.
The party has classified each booth into A, B ,C and D categories and steps will be initiated to strengthen them. The election management committee in each Assembly constituency will meet once in three days and take stock of the implementation of the plan and other decisions taken by the party and initiate corrective measures if needed.
