Telangana BJP chief Ramachandra Rao kept Under House Arrest

BJP Telangana state president N Ramchandra Rao, who was preparing to leave to participate in the “Har Ghar Tiranga” program, was suddenly arrested by the police in the early hours of Tuesday morning and was announced to be under house arrest. BJP leaders are expressing anger over the arrest on the suspicion that he might participate in the agitation being held by Hindus there to protest the demolition of the Peddamma temple.

Ramchander Rao says,” Today, in the early hours, the police came to my residence and informed me that I’m under house arrest. After inquiry, they told me that it’s related to the Peddamma Temple in Banjara Hills, which was demolished by the government and revenue officials”.

He said that the local people have been demanding its reconstruction, and some have called for a puja at the temple site. But, he was surprised that the police are arresting him for Hindu organisations’ programs related to Hindu virtues. He accused that  the Congress government seems to be restricting Hindu religious activities, despite the BJP not being connected to this issue.

“Not just me, but several Corporators in Hyderabad city have also been arrested. I strongly condemn the Congress government’s attitude towards this matter”, he said.

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar expressed his anger over the state government’s house arrest of BJP state president Ramachandra Rao. He also expressed his anger over the fact that Ramachandra Rao was stopped from going to the Kumkumkarchana program organized by Hindu groups at the Peddamma temple in Banjara Hills, even though there was no program.

“But what is wrong if Hindus go to the Peddamma temple? What more proof is needed that anarchy continues in the state? Arresting all Hindu groups and BJP workers in Bhagya Nagar is foolish,” he said. He criticized the Congress for acting according to a plan. He said that it is wrong to arrest the leaders and workers of Hindu groups who are peacefully worshipping without arresting the goons who demolished the Peddamma temple.

Sanjay accused the Congress government of conspiring to win votes from a section of the population in the Jubilee Hills by-election. Stating that a group is playing with the sentiments of Hindus for votes, he warned that the people of the state are watching everything and that days are coming when the Congress government will be given a proper lesson.
