Now that the NDA alliance led by the triumvirate of Telugu Desam Party, Janasena and BJP has assumed charge in Andhra Pradesh, it is time for CM Chandra Babu Naidu to lead the state for the next five years with his style of governance and policymaking. Within no time, Naidu’s mark is visible as he immediately started revamping the general administration of his secretariat by taking some bold decisions.
Meanwhile, the first assembly session of the new government is likely to be held next week during which the budget for the current fiscal year will be introduced by the new finance minister Payyavula Keshav. All eyes are now on YSRCP president and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The most widely discussed topic in political circles right now is whether Jagan and his 10 MLAs going to attend the assembly sessions or not.
It is a known fact that Jagan skipped the assembly sessions for most of the time when he was in opposition during 2014-2019 even when his party won more than 60 MLAs. Now, he was handed a humiliating blow by the electorate of the Andhra Pradesh as his party failed to secure even the opposition status by winning only 11 seats out of 175.
Though it is unclear whether Jagan will take an active participation in the assembly sessions and involve in the dialogue on various government decisions, the Telugu Desam Party is keen on having him for a constructive debate on several issues. Though he is not the opposition leader now, the TDP badly wants him to attend the assembly and take part in the upcoming sessions.
Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav during a press interaction yesterday welcomed Jagan to assembly and asked him to play the role of a strong opposition which is essential for a democracy. He recollected how Congress leader P.Janardhan Reddy in the position of opposition leader met CM Chandra Babu Naidu immediately after the elections.
