Amaravati: Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has lauded the victories of Telugu Desam Party candidates in the Pulivendula and Ontimitta ZPTC by-elections, stating that the wins have brought immense satisfaction to the people of the respective mandals. He extended his congratulations to the winning candidates, Lata Reddy and Muddu Krishna Reddy.
Speaking on the elections, Pawan Kalyan criticized the previous local body polls conducted under the YSRCP, alleging that opposition nominations were blocked and attempts to file nominations were met with intimidation and attacks. He emphasized that while alliances can be facilitated, unilateral actions prevent a truly democratic outcome. He noted that the presence of competition in Pulivendula enabled voters to exercise their democratic right at polling stations, breaking away from the long-standing trend of uncontested elections.
The Deputy CM further remarked that Pulivendula voters were able to vote for candidates of their choice for the first time in three decades, reflecting the prevailing political scenario in the state. He stated that the ZPTC by-elections followed proper nomination procedures, with candidates campaigning actively and the public delivering a clear verdict. Pawan Kalyan also criticized parties that attempted to obstruct the process at various stages and expressed displeasure over unwarranted comments directed at the government. He commended the police, election staff, and officials for ensuring that the elections were conducted smoothly without any incidents of violence.
