The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) is witnessing new political realignments following its recent electoral setback. After the induction of former minister and ex-PCC chief Sake Sailajanath, reports suggest that TDP leader Gali Jagadish Prakash is also preparing to jump ship to YSRCP.
Jagadish Prakash is the younger brother of Nagari MLA Gali Bhanu Prakash. The latter comes from a politically powerful family. He is the son of late Gali Muddu Krishnama Naidu, who was an experienced politician and six-time MLA who played a very important role in Andhra Pradesh politics. After a short period in Congress, Muddu Krishnama Naidu came back to the Telugu Desam Party and remained a crucial figure until his death. His political legacy was carried forward by Bhanu Prakash, who recently grabbed headlines by defeating former minister RK Roja in the Nagari constituency.
For a while now, Jagadish Prakash has been eyeing a bigger political role. He had earlier contemplated joining YSRCP, but Roja’s stronghold over Nagari allegedly stalled his entry. However, the dynamics have shifted, with senior YSRCP leader and former minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy—a known political rival of Roja—orchestrating Jagadish’s move into the party.
The long-standing cold war between Peddireddy and Roja has been no secret, and Jagadish’s induction into YSRCP seems to be a strategic effort to weaken Roja’s grip over Nagari. According to political insiders, YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has almost given the green signal for Jagadish’s entry, a move that could reshape Nagari’s political landscape and potentially create new hurdles for Roja within her own party.
If the political maneuvering falls into place, this switch could have far-reaching implications for the power struggle in Nagari, making it one of the most closely watched developments in Andhra Pradesh politics.
