The recent arrest of SIB DSP Praneeth Rao by Telangana police exposed how the previous KCR government tapped telephones of prominent Congress leaders, particularly that of present chief minister Revanth Reddy. Likewise, TDP leaders are expressing apprehension that key police officers in YS Jaganmohan Reddy government are also tapping telephone of opposition leaders, particularly that of TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu, Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan and BJP chief D Purandeswari.
TDP spokesperson Bonda Umamaheswara Rao, TDP candidate for Vijayawada Parliament, Kesineni Shivanad and General Secretary Pattabhi accused that they have key evidence with regard to phone tapping by some top police officers.
B Bonda Umamaheswara Rao accused the government of tapping the phones of Chandrababu, Pawan and Purandeshwari. He alleged that the phone tapping process is going on under the leadership of intelligence chief PSR Anjaneyulu. He recalled that ministers Peddireddy and Gudivada Amarnath had revealed that they were tapping phones in the past.
Demanding the Election Commission to take action against phone tapping, based upon their complaint, he alleged that AP CM Jagan bought the same type of Pegasus software that was procured during the previous TDP regime.
He revealed that at a party workshop they found a person named Visveswara Rao, an intelligence constable. He said that the constable admitted that he was sent by the IG. He also said that they have evidence that Keshineni Chinni’s movements were monitored and phones were tapped. He said that they have found evidence of tapping their phones from the constable’s phone.
Keshineni Shivanad said that a similar tapping process has been carried out in Telangana as well by the previous BRS regime. He demanded an explanation on phone tapping by chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy. He asked the Election Commission that those involved in phone tapping, including PSR Anjaneyu, should be removed from duty.
