Telugu Desam Party has filed a complaint against Chief Secretary Jawahar Reddy and other officers to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) seeking to take action for violating directives of the Election Commission of India (ECI).
TDP leader and former Rajya Sabha member Kanakamedala Ravindra Kumar in a letter to the NHRC mentioned Jawahar Reddy, PR and RDPS Shashi Bhushan and SERP CEO Muralidhar Reddy have paid usury to the elderly in the pension distribution.
He said that even though the ECI directed the state government to keep the volunteers away and distribute the pension through other government employees, they ignored it. He alleged that in the month of April, the elderly were called to the village secretariats and caused trouble and caused the death of 33 elderly people.
He alleged that CS Jawahar Reddy and others ignored ECI directives to go to the house and distribute the pension through other employees.
Ravindra Kumar wondered that although the Chief Secretary of Rural Development Department said that it is not easy for some pensioners to deposit money in the bank account through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer), PR and RD Chief Secretary Shashi Bhushan has turned a deaf ear.
The TDP leader alleged that they hatched a conspiracy against the elderly with the evil idea of benefiting the YSRCP in the elections. They demanded that an ex gratia of Rs. 10 lakh should be announced to the families of the deceased elderly and take appropriate action against these officials who did not commit such evil deeds.
Ravindra Kumar ridiculed the Chief Secretary repeatedly seeking permission from the ECI for money transfer to the beneficiaries, though already Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy had pushed buttons indicating transfer of money.
He asked whether they are looking to buy votes with government money before the elections? Why did Jagan press the button when there was no real money or well aware that would lead to violation of Model Code of Conduct? He alleged that all these dramas are being enacted by the Chief Secretary to facilitate the Chief Minister and other YCP leaders to blame the ECI and opposition leaders alleging they are blocking `money transfer’.
