The top leaders of the TDP and its alliance parties have expressed confidence that they will register a grand victory in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections. TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu opined that there is no need for exit polls for this election and they are forming the government themselves.
BJP general secretary Arun Singh, BJP state president D. Purandeshwari and Jana Sena leader Nadendla Manohar held a zoom meeting, along with Chandrababu Naidu with the MP and MLA candidates who contested on behalf of the alliance.
BJP AP in charge Tarun Singh said that 53 percent votes were cast for alliance and 41 percent votes for YCP. He said that they have clear calculations to this extent. Purandeshwari cautioned them that YCP mobs may try to create riots on the day of counting and later, everyone should be alert.
Chandrababu suggested that all the agents should take the Form 17-C given on the polling day to the counting centers to act as per the rules of the Election Commission in the counting. The agents of the three parties should work in coordination.
It was ordered that the contested candidates must go to the centers not to be provoked by anyone. Chandrababu advised the candidates to be vigilant especially in the counting of postal ballots. Everyone should look carefully at the Supreme Court’s recent order on postal ballots. Everyone should act constitutionally and legally, even if the opponents provoke them, they should be coordinated, he added.
Meanwhile, after a setback to the YCP in the AP High Court on the issue of postal ballots, it has now decided to approach the Supreme Court, challenging the High Court verdict. The High Court has refused to interfere with the Central Election Commission’s order that the postal ballot declaration is valid even if the arresting officer’s signature is present on the Form-13A and the status details are missing.
Government advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy revealed to the media that YCP will challenge the High Court verdict in the Supreme Court. It was precisely in these circumstances that TDP senior leader and MLA Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu filed a caveat in the Supreme Court. Senior advocate Guntur Prabhakar filed a caveat on behalf of Velagapudi. In the caveat, Velagapudi stated that if YCP approaches the Supreme Court, a decision should be taken only after hearing their arguments.
