Seasoned Tamil actor Delhi Ganesh, aged 80, who is known for portraying effective supporting roles in hundreds of films, passed away in Chennai in the wee hours of Sunday after a prolonged illness. Known for his realistic acting skills and commendable roles, Ganesh was popular not just in the Tamil film industry, but also in the neighbouring states due to his noteworthy performances in versatile characters. His work spanned over four decades, during which he contributed significantly to Tamil cinema with his nuanced portrayals of a wide variety of characters.
Delhi Ganesh made his film debut in 1976 in legendary director K. Balachander’s Pattina Pravesam. There is no looking back after that as he went on to become a go-to actor in Tamil cinema for supporting roles, amassing a repertoire of roles in over 400 films. His comedy timing and flawless act in villainous roles in several films received public appreciation.
His performances in movies like Sindhu Bhairavi, Nayakan, and Michael Madana Kama Rajan have made him a reliable actor in Kollywood. He also acted in few Telugu movies like Jaitra Yatra, Punnami Naagu etc. Despite his long career in film, Delhi Ganesh also made significant contributions to Tamil television, where his roles were widely appreciated.
