Giving credentials to the opposition parties frequent acquisitions that BJP turned to be a `washing machine’ that those who joined the party are getting `clean chit’ from the central government probing agencies, the Supreme Court wondered why TDP MP Magunta Srinivasa Reddy’s name is missing from the accused list in politically sensitive Delhi Liquor case?
It may be recalled that investigating agencies CBI and ED have already stated in their reports that he is the key mastermind in the scam that rocked the country. But it is not known what happened, later his name was not included as an accused in the charge sheet of this case.
The Supreme Court responded at a crucial time. The Apex Court asked the Enforcement Directorate how they could leave him like that. With this, the ED got stuck. In the Delhi liquor scam, CBI and ED have included Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, BRS MLC Kalwakuntla Kavitha and many others as accused.
It not only interrogated them, but also arrested them, keeping them in jail for months together. Those two investigative agencies also claimed that key discussions with regard to this scam were held at the residence of the then YCP MP Magunta Srinivasa Reddy in New Delhi. His son was also arrested as an accused, but later released after he turned aprovar.
However, ED and CBI did not include Magunta Srinvasa Reddy as an accused for some reason. The Apex Court questioned the same issue. However, the investigating agencies supporting their act of not including him among the accused in the case, told the Supreme Court that they are considering him as a witness instead of being accused.
The Supreme Court strongly objected to this. In the same case, Magunta, who is the main accused, has a role similar to that of Kavitha. At the same time, the Supreme Court also expressed doubts about the inclusion of Magunta’s son Raghav Reddyas an accused and then as an approver.
Looking at all this, the Supreme Court bench commented that it appears that the prosecution has included those they do not like as accused and left those they like. The prosecution was admonished to be honest. In this background, there is excitement about the next steps of the ED.
