New Delhi: The Supreme Court is set to deliver its verdict on Friday regarding the bail plea of senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia, who has been in custody for nearly a year and a half. Sisodia was arrested in February 2023 in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case and has faced multiple extensions of his judicial custody. He is currently facing charges from both the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
On May 21, the Delhi High Court denied Sisodia bail, citing concerns that he might misuse his position and potentially influence evidence and witnesses if released. The Supreme Court, which heard Sisodia’s appeal on August 6, has reserved its decision and inquired about the expected timeline for the trial’s conclusion. During the June 4 hearing, the ED informed the court that it planned to file a final chargesheet by July 3.
