The Supreme Court has issued notices to YSRCP MP YS Avinash Reddy in the murder case of former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy. The Supreme Court began hearing on Tuesday on the petition for cancellation of Avinash Reddy’s bail in Viveka’s murder case.
A bench headed by Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna heard the petition filed by Viveka’s daughter Dr. Sunitha Reddy seeking cancellation of YS Avinash Reddy’s bail. Sunitha’s lawyer Siddhartha Luthra brought to the attention of the bench that the person who became the approver in this matter had gone to jail and threatened her son.
Luthra stated that a person who was a private doctor had gone to jail and tried to influence witnesses. The CJI questioned whether the doctor who went was a regular visitor or not? The lawyer said that Dr. Chaitanya had gone against the prison rules and that he was not a doctor who regularly conducted medical examinations.
Sunitha’s lawyer requested that Dr. Chaitanya and the state government be included as defendants in the case. Luthra stated that Avinash Reddy is the 8th accused in the Viveka murder case and is a key person in the investigation of the case. The CJI bench supported Sunitha’s lawyer’s arguments and agreed to include both of them as defendants.
The Supreme Court issued notices to MP YS Avinash Reddy and Shivashankar Reddy’s son Chaitanya Reddy and adjourned the next hearing to March 3. Also, the Supreme Court heard the petitions filed by Sunitha Reddy, CBI officer Ram Singh and Narreddy Rajasekhara Reddy in the Vivekananda murder case.
The three approached the Supreme Court to quash the cases registered against them. The three also challenged the previous orders given by the High Court in this matter in the Supreme Court. Sunitha’s lawyer Siddhartha Luthra said that the progress of the investigation was obstructed by a private complaint against the investigating officer.
They said that they tried to cover up the murder case and then spread the propaganda that it was a case of vomiting blood. Luthra told the court that the investigation into the case was ongoing as per the court orders and that keeping all those developments in mind, he had filed a private complaint with baseless allegations.
The bench headed by Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna, which issued notices to the respondents, adjourned the further hearing to February 24 next year.
