Supreme Court Issues Notice To Former Guntur Superintendent Prabhavati In Raghurama Case

New Delhi: In a key development in the custodial torture case involving former MP and AP Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Raghurama Krishnaraju, the Supreme Court has directed former Guntur GGH Superintendent Prabhavati to fully cooperate with the investigation.

Prabhavati, who served as the Superintendent during the YSRCP’s tenure, had previously reported that Raghurama did not sustain any injuries due to custodial torture.

The Supreme Court, during Tuesday’s hearing, ordered Prabhavati to appear before the investigating officer at the relevant police station on the 7th and 8th of this month. The Court further emphasized the importance of her complete cooperation in the investigation.

Senior advocate Siddharth Luthra, representing the state government, informed the Court that despite its order, Prabhavati had failed to cooperate with the investigation. Prabhavati’s lawyer claimed that she was only called once for questioning, with no further summons issued in the past two months. Luthra also noted that whenever notices were sent, someone else responded on Prabhavati’s behalf, citing excuses for her non-appearance.

The Supreme Court has now directed Prabhavati to appear for questioning at 10 AM on the 7th and 8th of this month.
