Supreme Court Denies KTR’s Petition, Formula E Probe

The Supreme Court has dismissed the petition filed by Telangana BRS leader KT Rama Rao, popularly known as KTR, for a stay on investigating alleged financial irregularities linked to the Formula E case. Earlier, the Telangana High Court had rejected KTR’s plea by stating that prima facie there is evidence of fund misuse and so needs deeper investigation.

KTR had appealed to the Supreme Court challenging the decision by the High Court, but the apex court has upheld the previous ruling reiterating that proper investigation should be done on the matter.

The case was argued by Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi for the Telangana government and Siddharth Dave for KTR. After the Supreme Court refused to intervene, KTR’s lawyers moved an application to withdraw the petition, which was opposed by the lawyer for the Telangana government, resulting in the bench finally dismissing the petition.

As a consequence, KTR is now facing continuous legal battles in relation to the Formula E case. He has already been grilled by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and is scheduled to appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the coming days.

The case of Formula E is one of the major cases that have politically dipped into controversy, on the basis of which KTR has strongly spoken out in a denial of financial misconduct. He has also spoken out against government actions at hand. The Supreme Court dismissing his petition means the investigation will go on, which means scrutiny for KTR and the case.

This has led to a renewed focus from the public and political fraternity, as the case continues to unravel, and KTR is met with continued legal and political battles in the coming weeks.
