Kannada actor Sudeep has responded to comments made by Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar regarding the film fraternity’s lack of participation in key state events. Speaking during a recent panel discussion, Sudeep stated that only those within the industry can truly understand its challenges and dynamics. “Just like a car needs its bolts tightened by a knowledgeable mechanic, the film industry requires insight from those who are part of it. I don’t know why he made such comments, but I’ve always respected him. However, before making such statements, it would have been better to understand the situation on the ground. That would have only deepened the respect I have for him. We have always responded to his invitations and participated in various events,” Sudeep said.
The actor’s comments follow DK Shivakumar’s criticism during the Bengaluru International Film Festival held in March this year, where several actors and filmmakers were absent from the opening ceremony. The Deputy CM expressed disappointment and urged the industry to unite and participate in important state functions. He also emphasized the need for collaboration between the government and the film fraternity, warning that if the current attitude continued, he knew how to address it.
