After SS Rajamouli officially announced his much-anticipated collaboration with Superstar Mahesh Babu, fan excitement skyrocketed, especially with the film’s star-studded cast that includes Mollywood star Prithviraj Sukumaran and Bollywood icon turned global star Priyanka Chopra. Fans are eagerly waiting for the updates and curious to know what Maverick director Rajamouli is cooking. Now, interest has peaked again with a fresh update.
Breaking away from his own two-part storytelling style, which was popularized with Bahubali, Rajamouli is opting to tell the globe-trotting adventure of SSMB 29 in a single epic film. This decision marks a bold move against the now-common trend of splitting films for commercial benefit.
It was earlier reported that the film is set amidst the cultural backdrop of Kashi and scheduled for a summer 2027 release, with filming rapidly progressing and continuing through mid-2026.
According to Pinkvilla reports, a source told, “SS Rajamouli is known for breaking norms and aims to keep audiences fully engaged through his unique narrative style. He created the trend of narrating a single story in two parts with Bahubali, but for SSMB 29, he plans to tell this epic story in one spectacular film. Rajamouli believes that the two-part format has been misused by filmmakers for commercial reasons, leading him to break his own trend. Similar to RRR, SSMB 29 will have a lengthy runtime of approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes. The decision to go with a single part was made early on, keeping the screenplay structure in mind.”
It is also reportedly said that SSMB 29 could be his longest film to date. The makers are planning to make an official announcement soon with a 2-minute announcement video. Stay tuned for more exciting details.
