After nearly twenty years away from acting, Renu Desai made a notable comeback with Ravi Teja’s Tiger Nageswara Rao, portraying social reformer Hemalata Lavanam. Her return garnered attention not only for the role but also for the scrutiny she faced during the film’s release. In a recent interview, Desai reflected on the criticism, noting that those who judged her harshly have yet to apologize. “They claimed that my comeback meant I would act in every kind of film and appear everywhere. Yet, two years have passed since the release, and I haven’t signed or acted in any other project. Even with that knowledge, no one has come forward to acknowledge their words,” she said.
Desai emphasized that while acting is a passion, it is not her ultimate life goal. “I may appear to prioritize money, but I spend prudently and do not let it dominate my choices. Had I pursued acting purely as a career, I would have built a strong reputation by now,” she remarked, underscoring her measured approach to the profession.
She also spoke about her present projects, revealing that she is receiving offers for strong, female-centric roles. Desai is set to appear in an upcoming comedy as a mother-in-law, with production expected to begin shortly. Her careful selection of roles reflects her desire to balance meaningful work with personal priorities.
Beyond cinema, Desai shared her growing interest in spirituality, hinting at the possibility of embracing sanyas in the future. “I am drawn toward a spiritual path and may consider sanyas at some point,” she revealed, highlighting that her journey encompasses both artistic expression and personal growth.
