Speculations have been spreading wildly since Wednesday morning stating that former YSRCP minister Kodali Nani was detained at Kolkata airport, when he was trying to flee the country, in view of numerous police cases against him.
However, both police sources and also Nani’s close associates have strongly refuted such speculations. Moreover, they asserted that there is no truth in such speculations that Kodali Nani has been arrested in Kolkata. In fact, they says Kodali Nani does not even have a passport to leave the country. With this speculation over his alleged arrest were put to rest.
On the other hand, his close associates say that he is very much at his residence in Hyderabad only. They say even he did not try to escape from the eye of the police. The speculations alleging his arrest gained momentum a day after prominent YSRCP leader and former MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy was arrested in AP Liquor Scam at Bengaluru International Airport, when he was trying to flee the country.
There are several cases against Kodali Nani, who started his political journey from TDP, but later shifted to YSRCP and became bitter critic of TDP, particularly Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. There are complaints that Kodali Nani committed irregularities during the YSRCP regime.
After the alliance came to power, cases were registered against Kodali Nani, including cheating people by issuing fake pattas just ahead of last year’s election.Initially, Kodali Nani approached the courts to avoid police interrogation and later was admitted to the hospital due to health problems. He underwent bypass surgery at a hospital in Mumbai. Kodali Nani, who is gradually recovering, has been attending personal events again for a few days.
Kodali Nani, who served as a minister during the Jaganmohan Reddy government, used to speak in harsh and abuse opposition leaders. This led to strong opposition against him right then. After the coalition government came to power, many people filed complaints against him in various places in the state. As a result, the police have registered cases against him and are investigating.
