Speaker Om Birla Admits No-Confidence Motion against PM Modi Government

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has proposed the No-Confidence Motion against the Narendra Modi-led government today in the Parliament and speaker Om Birla asked the MPs who were in support of the petition. More than 50 MPs have raised their hands in support of the No-Confidence motion including the newly formed alliance INDIA and the Telangana-based BRS as well. DMK, TMC, NCP, Shiv Sena (UBT), JD(U), and Left parties have supported the No-Confidence motion as well.

As per the rules, speaker Om Birla has passed the No-Confidence Motion and now the BJP government had to face it. The speaker is expected to announce the date and time for this No-Confidence motion after discussing it with the floor leaders within 10 days.

This is the second time that a No-Confidence motion was moved against Narendra Modi’s government. Earlier in July 2018, TDP raised a No-Confidence motion and the BJP sailed through it comfortably by 325 – 126 in favor of the government.
