Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Ayyanna Patrudu has clarified that it was mandatory for the leader of YSR Congress Party, Jagan Mohan Reddy to appear in the newly-formed Assembly sessions. While talking about this issue, he revealed that he had personally extended an invitation to Jagan and said his presence would be useful to the state’s legislation process. Patrudu further said that the fate of the Assembly would rely directly on its existence and active presence of elected representatives and, therefore, urged all MLAs to attend the session and raise pressing issues of their constituencies.
Patrudu urged that development work in constituencies will suffer if elected representatives do not attend the Assembly. He appealed to MLAs from all parties to be actively involved in the legislative sessions to ensure that the woes of their respective communities are brought to the notice of the government. The Speaker told lawmakers to step up action in addressing and resolving the problems of the people.
He clarified the excitement with which Ayyanna Patrudu is waiting to receive Jagan Mohan Reddy and the YSRCP MLAs once they attend the sessions. “The Assembly is a platform for meaningful conversation and solution-seeking. And representation from all of them is necessary to have proper governance.”.
Ayyanna Patrudu also shed light on the progress of Polavaram project in his address. He said the Tandava Lift Irrigation project has gone up to ₹2,900 crores. Still, he assured funds as he told the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu promised the same to the villagers and that efforts will be made to clear all the pending debts of the local body once the project is completed.
