Six Congress MLAs Ask High command To Take Action Against Minister Konda Surekha

After her unwarranted comments against Akkineni Nagarjuna’s son divorce pushing the Congress party itself into defense, Minister Konda Surekha now emerged as a center of a major political crisis within the ruling party in the erstwhile Warangal district, as as many as six party MLAs openly revolted against her.

Alleging that she has been interfering in their constituencies, they have decided to go to New Delhi on Thursday to register their complaint against her with the party top leadership. They are urging the party leadership to take action against her citing ‘interference’ and ‘misconduct’.

They have sought an appointment with AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal. Already they have complained against the minister to Telangana Congress incharge Deepa Munshi and TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud. Worrying about this development, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has assigned the task of pacifying the ‘revolted MLAs’ to minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy.

The MLAs are accusing Surekha of overstepping her boundaries and creating problems in various Assembly constituencies in the district. The MLAs alleged that the interference by Surekha and her followers was causing friction between local MLAs, party leaders and the cadre. The Congress had won 10 assembly seats of the 12 in the erstwhile Warangal district.

Already, the Congress MLAs have stopped inviting Surekha to programmes held in their constituencies as she was creating rifts between party workers and encouraging groupism.  Surekha and Parkala MLA Revuri Prakash Reddy  have been at loggerheads for some time now.

Surekha has also been at loggerheads for decades with Warangal West MLA and former district president Naini Rajender Reddy and Narsampet MLA Donthi Madhav Reddy, both senior Congress leaders. Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiam Srihari, who joined the Congress from BRS, too is said to have avoided calling the Minister to programmes in his assembly segment.

Palakurthi MLA Yashaswini Reddy, Wardhannapet MLA KR Nagaraju, Dornakal MLA Jatoth Ramachandru Naik and Mahabubabad MLA Murali Nayak too are said to be among those not happy with Surekha’s way of functioning.
