Many YSRCP leaders were involved in the Rs 3,500 crore liquor scam during the previous Jaganmohan Reddy’s regime. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) officials has reportedly secured key evidence during their searches in the premises of Vijayananda Reddy (red sandalwood smuggler), the business partner of former YSRCP MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, who is a key accused in the liquor scam.
The officials got the most crucial data when they conducted searches at Vijayananda Reddy’s complex in Chittoor, where he contested as an MLA candidate on behalf of the YSRCP. It contains details of how much bribes were given to whom. The SIT officials who investigated further identified many names. The names include two former ministers and two key leavers.
According to the most reliable information, the nephew of a key YSRCP leader in the North Andhra districts has received huge bribes. These bribes were given as compensation for the expenses incurred for the party plenary held in Guntur district on the day Jagan permanently expelled Vijayamma, the honorary president of the YSRCP.
SIT sources have also found that a former minister in Godavari districts has also received huge bribes. Moreover, a high-profile former minister in Guntur district has also received liquor bribes. Corruption cases have already come to light against the former minister, who is always in controversy.
The investigation teams have also collected evidence that a former MLA from the combined Anantapur district has also received huge amounts of liquor money. It is also known that some YSRCP leaders have also collected bribes every month. The SIT officials are getting complete details about who took what amount from whom.
Once complete evidence is received, there is a possibility of issuing notices to the respective leaders and interrogating them. The SIT investigation has already identified the role of some YSRCP leaders, their followers and officials in the liquor scam, along with Tadepalli Palace.
