Congress APCC Chief Sharmila has appealed to all political parties in Andhra Pradesh to unite and extend support to Telugu jurist Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy in the current Vice Presidential polls. Pointing out the significance of regional representation, she emphasized that here is an opportunity to support a worthy legal expert above party affiliations.
Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy, an eminent Telangana state former judge, has been nominated by the India bloc led by Congress. For his sure victory, the state PCC chiefs have been tasked with coordinating the support of their allied parties.
Addressing the leaders of YSRCP and TDP directly, Sharmila appealed for their cooperation, saying CM Chandrababu Naidu, ex-Chief Ministers, and other senior political leaders should come out in support of Justice Sudarshan Reddy. She called the nomination a pride for Telugus and also pointed to his rags-to-riches story—starting from the family of a common farmer to becoming a renowned personality in India’s judiciary.
Sharmila also observed that at the present time, when democracy is confronted with several challenges, it is imperative to position such legal luminaries as Justice Sudarshan Reddy in the Vice Presidential office for the protection of the Constitution. She explained that he does not belong to any political party and is presently the Chairman of the Independent Experts Committee. And also Sharmila asked TDP, Jana Sena, and YSRCP to give maximum support to the Telugu candidate.
