Sharmila Asks Jagan To Reply Chandrababu’s Accusation of previous Regime For Huge Flood Losses

PCC president YS Sharmila demanded that former chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy should reply to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s accusations against the previous government for huge flood losses in the state. She inspected Eleru canal and submerged crop fields in Peddapuram suburb of Kakinada district.

The farmers told Sharmila that they have suffered serious losses due to the non-removal of Eleru seepage and appealed to the government to take notice of their problem so that the compensation should be given to the tenant farmers instead of the farmers.

Speaking to the media on this occasion, Sharmila said that the government should immediately give a compensation of Rs. 25,000  instead of Rs 10,000 per acre. She lamented that Chandrababu and Jagan do not have the sincerity of YSR to modernize Eleru canal. She deplored that the farmers have been flooded and the tenant farmers have lost crores of rupees due to the inundation of thousands of acres of crops.

She expressed concern that after the death of Rajasekhar Reddy, no one paid attention to the repairs of Eleru. She said that the farmers have suffered badly due to lack of repairs and each farmer has invested up to Rs 30,000 so far.

She reminded that Eleru had undertaken modernization works during the YSR regime and after releasing Rs.135 crore, starting the work, no one focused on the modernization of Eleru after the death of YSR. Sharmila expressed anger that Jagan and Chandrababu are blaming each other, but not focusing on the fate of affected people.

Alleging that Jagan and Chandrababu did not pay attention to the modernization of Eleru in the last 10 years, she asked why modernization work was not done during Chandrababu’s previous regime? Sharmila said that the projects were left in the air during Jagan’s regime and Jagan did not care about the dams being washed away.  Sharmila said that 6 lakh acres were damaged across the state due to the negligence of the previous rulers.
