Kasireddy Rajashekar Reddy, a close aide of former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, has suffered a setback in the AP High Court in the liquor scam. The CID has served notices (CrPC Section 160) to him to appear before them as a witness in the liquor scam case. However, Kasireddy has approached the High Court seeking quashing of the CID notices.
A hearing was held in the High Court on Friday and the court refused to interfere with the notices given by the CID. The High Court has issued orders to the CID to give reasonable time before issuing further notice and calling him for questioning. Meanwhile, during the liquor scam investigation, the state government sent former MD of the State Beverages Corporation, Vasudeva Reddy, who was the main accused in the scam, back to his parent department, the Railways Department.
Orders have been issued stating that he is being relieved immediately. After Jagan become CM, Vasudeva Reddy came to the state on deputation from the Railway Department in August 2019. His deputation period ended in August last year. But the state government did not relieve him after allegations of liquor irregularities were made against him.
At the request of the AP government, the Railway Department extended his deputation till February 25 this year. When that period also expired, the state government decided to send him back to his parent department. CID officials have concluded that Vasudeva Reddy is the main actor in the liquor scam.
Officials have clarified that Vasudeva Reddy played a key role in matters such as purchasing liquor from distilleries and fixing prices. Some officials say that prices were increased for commissions. It is reported that the investigation by CID officials revealed that those commissions were directly received by YSRCP leaders.
The Election Commission directed asking the government he should not be appointed to election-related duties. After the alliance came to power, he faced an investigation on liquor allegations. The names of YSRCP leaders have come into the limelight in the liquor case. Former YSRCP leader Vijayasai Reddy, also called Kasireddy Rajasekhar Reddy was the key person in this case.
Meanwhile, recently, YCP MP Mithun Reddy has filed a petition in the High Court for anticipatory bail in this case. However, the High Court dismissed the petition on the grounds that Mithun was not included as an accused. Now, it seems that Kasireddy has also recently approached the High Court for anticipatory bail. At this time, with the release of Vasudeva Reddy, there is excitement about the developments in this case in the coming days.
