The three-day AP CID custody of senior IPS officer and former intelligence chief PSR Anjaneyulu was ended on Tuesday in Mumbai actress Jethwani’s illegal arrest case. However, police sources said that he mostly avoided giving answers to their questions.
PSR Anjaneyulu did not give a straight answer to any of the questions asked by the CID in custody on the second day. It is learnt that PSR Anjaneyulu answered all of them in an evasive and invasive manner. It is learnt that when the CID officials showed him evidence and questioned him, he gave irrelevant answers.
The questioning continued for four hours on the third day and more than 30 questions were put before him. He has repeatedly said that “I told you that I had nothing to do with the registration of a case against Kadambari Jethwani and her arrest! Why are you asking me who funded the police teams that went to Mumbai to arrest her?”
Moreover, presenting his innocence over this case, he asked how he knew from which accounts they used the funds? He said that if there was anything, he suggested they ask the relevant officials. “You provided the funds from the intelligence department yourself!” the investigating officers asked, but he ignored them saying there was no such thing.
The investigation was conducted under the leadership of CID ASP Prasad. He said to be ignored to questions like who ordered the registration of a case against the Mumbai actress? Why was the actress harassed even after the case was registered?
“Our investigation revealed that flight tickets were booked for Vishal Gunni and his team on your orders even before the case was registered against Jethwani. From there, the CDR analysis revealed that they were in constant contact with you,” the officials asked. But, he only replied that he had never spoken about those matters.
“How many phones have you used in the last five years? How many iPods have you used? Where are they?” When asked, PSR replied that he used only one phone and did not use an iPod. When asked about the phone used to access the official phone number, he did not give a proper answer.
Meanwhile, PSR told the magistrate that he was fully cooperating with the investigation. He said that he was ready to cooperate even if he was taken into custody again. “Did you cause any trouble during the investigation?” the magistrate asked, and he replied that he was not.
PSR Anjaneyulu told the judge that he was not given books for worship in jail, nor was he given a kumkum. The judge advised PSR to file a petition if he wanted facilities.
