SC Takes Strong Stance Against CM Revanth Reddy’s Remarks on Kavitha’s Bail

On Thursday, the Supreme Court voiced significant concerns over comments made by Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. The remarks in question were related to BRS MLC Kavitha’s recent bail decision in the vote-for-note case. During the hearing, the petitioner’s lawyer, representing Jagadish Reddy, highlighted these comments, prompting a response from the Court.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had suggested that Kavitha’s bail was influenced by an agreement between the BJP and BRS. The Supreme Court found these remarks troubling, questioning whether it was appropriate for a Chief Minister to make such statements. The bench, led by Justice B.R. Gavai, criticized the Chief Minister for potentially causing public doubt with his comments.

The Court reiterated that while it may face criticism for its decisions, it is committed to upholding its duties with integrity. It cautioned against bringing judicial decisions into the political arena and stressed that political leaders should act with responsibility. The bench further suggested that if such opinions persist, the vote-for-note case might need to be heard outside the state.
