Natural Star Nani commands a massive following among overseas audiences. It won’t be an exaggeration to say that his craze in North America is on par with that of top-league actors. He already owns nine million dollar films there and his latest outing Saripodhaa Sanivaram is on way to emerge as the tenth film in the prestigious club.
Saripodhaa Sanivaram, directed by Vivek Athreya, took a flying start in North America with a terrific half million dollar gross from its Thursday premieres. Despite a non-holiday season, Saripodhaa Sanivaram embarked on a phenomenal start with $ 547K from premieres. This is second biggest opener for Nani after his previous blockbuster Dasara which grossed $ 638K.
As the action entertainer garnered promising talk with decent reports from premiere shows, the first day numbers are impressive with close to $ 300K gross. This is the highest first day figure in Nani’s career so far. The film will have a strong weekend at the box office as there is no competition due to lack of other releases. Trade circles are expecting close to $ 2 million gross by end of Sunday.
Despite flat story, director Vivek Athreya dished out a wholesome entertainer with his stupendous screenplay. Nani’s stunning performance and SJ Suryah’s menacing negative character turned out to the selling points for Saripodhaa Sanivaram.
The domestic revenues are also very promising as the film is likely to be the second biggest opener for Nani after Dasara.
