A.R. Murugadoss had previously worked with Bollywood star Salman Khan on the ambitious action drama Sikandar, but it was a disaster at the box office. While promoting his newly released Tamil film Madharaasi, Murugadoss is stirring up controversy by now attributing the failure of Sikandar to Salman Khan’s lack of punctuality and discipline while filming.
Now, Salman Khan has broken his silence and delivered a sharp, witty counter that has taken social media by storm.
During a recent episode of Bigg Boss Hindi Season 19. Salman addressed the topic of Sikandar and responded to the director’s earlier remarks. He said, “I don’t regret doing any of my films. Some people said I shouldn’t have done Sikandar, but I don’t agree. It had a solid story. The director once said I used to reach the set at 9 PM — what he didn’t know was that I had a broken rib at that time.”
Taking a subtle dig at Murugadoss, Salman added, “That same director recently made another movie, and its hero used to be on set by 6 AM every day. So why did that film turn out to be a disaster too?”
He went on to share more details about the project’s origin:n“Sikandar was initially planned with Sajid Nadiadwala and A.R. Murugadoss. After some time, Sajid backed out, and Murugadoss went on to make Madharaasi in the South — and yes, that film turned out to be a blockbuster, much bigger than Sikandar.”
Salman’s comments have since gone viral across social media, with fans applauding his calm yet cutting response to the director’s past statements.
For context, after Sikandar underperformed, Murugadoss teamed up with Sivakarthikeyan for Madharaasi. During its promotions, the director had commented, “Salman Khan used to arrive on set around 9 PM, and by the time shooting began, it was almost 11. We even filmed morning scenes at midnight. The extensive use of VFX also increased the production cost.”
Now, it seems Salman Khan has chosen the perfect platform to clap back, effortlessly turning the criticism around with his trademark wit and composure.
