Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan has opened up about the attack on him that took place in January this year, expressing disappointment over claims that the incident was a staged act. Speaking on a recent talk show, Saif said it was painful to see people doubting a real and distressing experience. “Sometimes people refuse to believe the truth — that’s the kind of society we live in,” he remarked.
Recalling the aftermath of the incident, Saif explained that he walked out of the hospital on his own after being discharged to reassure his fans that he was doing well. “I didn’t want fans to panic if they saw me in an ambulance or wheelchair. I wanted to show them that I was fine. But some people misinterpreted it and spread rumors that the attack never happened. My injuries and the pain I went through were absolutely real,” he clarified.
The actor was attacked on January 16 in Mumbai by a man later identified as Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, a Bangladeshi national. Police investigations revealed that the assailant carried out the attack for a payment of just ₹30,000. Saif, who recovered after a week of treatment, described the incident as one of the most intense experiences of his life, adding that it taught him important lessons about the media and public perception.
