Rs 500 cr. Plan To Develop Amaravati As A Mega Tourist Hub

The government of Andhra Pradesh has formulated plans to develop capital Amaravati as a  Mega Tourist Hug, by spending over Rs 500 crore. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu recently directed the officials of the tourism department to prepare a comprehensive project report (DPR) for the central government grant under the mega tourism development project.

The Central Government is going to announce a special program under the Mega Tourism Development Project. The state government is contemplating to develop this plan on the lines of Prasad and Swadesh Darshan schemes, the state government has decided to prepare plans to develop Amaravati as a tourism destination.

This was mentioned in the review conducted by the CM on the tourism department on 13th of this month. With this, the authorities are making arrangements for the selection of the consultancy firm. The Krishna river basin will be developed as a platform for entertainment, science, adventure, cultural and spiritual activities.

A ropeway will be constructed from Kanakadurgamma temple to Bhavani Island. Bhavani Island also has opportunities to provide many additional facilities to visitors under public-private partnership. Arrangements are expected to be made to spend two days in the island with family members in a pleasant atmosphere.

Boats are proposed to be floated in Krishna river at night for tourists. The idea is to arrange accommodation, meals and cultural programs on the boat itself. Development works of floating restaurants will be started.

Master plan roads will be developed from the capital to the famous Kondapalli Fort, Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Caves in Undavalli, Mangalagiri Panakala Swamy Temple, Amaravati Temple etc. Arrangements are made for tourists to visit the area to make Kondapalli more popular for toy making.

Expression of interest bids will be invited for the construction of hotels for tourists in the capital Amaravati under the auspices of reputed companies in public and private partnership. Berm Park will be further developed and additional facilities will be provided.

Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh said that the Chief Minister has directed to create programs so that those coming to the capital from state and other areas can stay here for one or two days and visit famous temples and famous places. Suitable facilities will be provided to enjoy a pleasant environment with family members. He said that the selection of the consultancy will be completed and the comprehensive project report will be prepared as soon as possible.
