Undi TDP MLA Raghu Rama Krishna Raju, who previously served as an MP from the YSRCP, has lodged a case against Guntur district police officials. He alleges that during the tenure of the YSRCP government, he was arrested and subjected to brutal treatment at a police station. In connection with the case, Vijay Paul, a retired Additional SP from the CID department and an accused party, has now appeared before the police for questioning.
Vijay Paul, who had been evading authorities for a while, has finally appeared before them, bringing an unexpected turn in the case filed by Undi TDP MLA Raghu Rama Krishna Raju. Raghu Rama has accused former CID officer Vijay Paul and other police officials of illegally detaining and torturing him at a police station while he was serving as a YSRCP MP.
Raghu Rama Krishna Raju has filed a complaint with the police in Guntur district, demanding legal measures against former CID officials for subjecting him to unjust hardships. In his complaint, the TDP MLA has also implicated former Chief Minister Jagan and several other police personnel. Following the registration of the case, former CID ASP Vijay Paul is said to have gone into hiding.
Vijay Paul approached the Andhra Pradesh High Court seeking anticipatory bail. However, his request was denied, leading the court to reject his bail application entirely. Following this setback, Vijay Paul chose to go underground and sought relief from the Supreme Court. In a recent hearing, the Supreme Court urged the Andhra Pradesh police to exercise caution and refrain from arresting Vijay Paul without due process, emphasizing the importance of fairness in legal proceedings.
In a significant development, the Supreme Court has mandated Vijay Paul to fully cooperate with the ongoing police investigation tied to this case. Adhering to the court’s orders, he presented himself for questioning before the Guntur district police on Friday. This appearance marks a crucial step forward for law enforcement as they delve into the allegations made by TDP MLA Raghurama Krishna Raju. His testimony could provide vital insights into the claims and help clarify the circumstances surrounding the case.
