Chief Minister Revanth Reddy alleged that during the BRS regime a Rs 15,000 crore scam took place in Yadadri Thermal Power Plant. In the Bhadradri power project, he said that the estimation was increased at the rate of Rs.2.5 cr per megawatt.
He accused that former CM KCR went to the Supreme Court and asked for the cancellation of the inquiry commission constituted by his government against these power purchase deals, fearing his corrupt deals would be exposed.
However, he recalled that the Supreme Court has made it clear that the commission should continue.
During the debate in the Assembly on Monday, the CM said, “It seems that the former power minister’s agony makes people believe that he is feeling as if already he is in Cherlapally Jail”, he said.
Revanth Reddy said that they are free to prove their honesty and innocence before the Commission. But, he wondered that instead of attempting to prove their honesty they went to the court against the summons issued by the Commission. He recalled that they did not constitute a judicial commission, but only an inquiry commission was set up to give them a chance to prove their honesty.
The Chief Minister recalled that on the same day the Telangana government gave a tender to BHEL, the Jharkhand government tender for 2400 MW power project attracted bids from a Korean Company also, besides BHEL and another company.
He said that BRS leaders are stating that they had accorded a tender of 4,000 MW power plant to BHEL for quoting at 18 percent less and also promised to complete the plant in two and half years. But, he wondered that even after nine years till now the power plant was not completed.
However, the former BRS power minister Jagadish Reddy supporting his government’s action, said that the Center said that the projects to be completed by 2017 in sub-critical condition, and in view of our electricity needs on that day, the then CM called BHEL and spoke to them in an emergency.
