Chief Minister Revanth Reddy made it clear that even though the Central Government has taken a key decision to conduct a caste census along with the population census across the country, the credit goes to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Saying that they welcome the Central Government’s decision to conduct a caste census along with the population census, he thanked Rahul Gandhi for taking initiative in this direction.
He recalled that Rahul Gandhi demanded a nation-wide caste census and discussed the caste census issue during his padayatra. He revealed that he did not want to talk politics over the decision of the Center, but he recalled that Telangana state is aware of the issues involved in it. caste census.
Referring to Rahul Gandhi’s advice, Revanth Reddy said that the Telangana model on caste census will be a role model for the entire country. He asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to tell when the caste census will be started and when the caste census will be conducted.
He said that the caste census is not a secret document and procedures should be made public. He advised the central government that a committee should be formed across the country for the caste census. As each caste has a separate list in each state, he suggested that a committee should be formed with ministers for the caste census.
Revanth Reddy suggested that a committee should be formed with officials and experts to study it. He wanted a committee of ministers to be appointed immediately and an expert committee to be formed along with the committee of ministers. He said that a study should be conducted with these two committees across the country.
The Chief Minister cautioned that if caste census is done for name sake, there will be no use in it. He said that the caste census will be like Xeroxing the country. If Xeroxing is done, we can realize what the disease is? What medicine to apply?, he added.
Revanth Reddy recalled that in Telangana they took many things and suggestions from the people and public associations and conducted the caste census. He said that 95,000 enumerators were appointed for the caste census and a supervisor was appointed for every 10 enumerators.
He said that the committee of ministers monitored it from time to time. After conducting the caste census, they put it in the public domain. He said that those who did not participate in the caste census were given another chance. He said that the caste census was conducted within three months without any problems, he added.
Revanth Reddy said that they are ready to work with the Center on the issue of caste census, in view of the experience they have gained in it. He said that they are ready to answer the doubts that the Center has regarding the caste census and provide all possible support. He recalled that it was the Telangana government that conducted the caste census after 1931.
