Revanth Reddy Retained His Grip In Delhi, Makes His Nominee Mahesh Goud As New TPCC chief

At a time after the unimpressive performance of Congress party in Lok Sabha elections Chief Minister Revanth Reddy seems to be losing his grip with the party high-command, he succeeded in nominating his choice Mahesh Goud as new chief of the Telangana Congress Committee.

For the last few months, he is struggling hard to get the nod of the party high-command for cabinet expansion and also appointment of TPCC chief. Though several senior leaders lobbied extensively for this coveted post, finally the party high-command continued its trust on Revanth Reddy with this appointment.

Even though Revanth Reddy has publicly said several times that he has left the decision on TPCC to the party leadership, the fact that Mahesh Goud is his choice is an open secret. From the time of Revanth Reddy joining Congress, Mahesh Reddy has been extending strong support to him.

According to party sources, former MP Madhu Yashki Goud, who has a good grip on the Congress leadership, has given a tough fight in the race for the TPCC post. At present even though Madhu Yashki Goud is also close to Revanth Reddy, it seems the chief minister feared that if given a chance he may change his attitude.

Revanth Reddy and also the Congress high-command felt that for the smooth functioning of the government, the party should be in harmony with the Chief Minister.

After Lok Sabha elections, Congress high-command is more worried about growing influence of the BJP in Telangana and felt that only a mass leader like Revanth Reddy can check its tactics.

By making Mahesh Goud as TPCC chief, high-command has sent a signal to the party leaders as well as the rank and file that it cannot tolerate any attempt to destabilise the party government.

Mahesh Reddy grew in the Congress party starting from student politics. He was NSUI General Secretary of united Andhra Pradesh and also national Secretary of Youth Congress. He worked as a member of TPCC Election Committee in 2023. Presidently, he is continuing as MLC and also TPCC working president.

Jeevan Reddy, Jagga Reddy, Komati Reddy Rajagopal Reddy and Adnaki Dayakar also brought pressure on the party high-command for this post. Although the exercise of PCC president was completed two weeks ago, the Congress leadership surprisingly took some time for an official announcement.
