The Revanth Reddy government is ready to go with a special GO for the conduct of local elections in Telangana. Reliable sources say that the election schedule will also be released within a week. It is reliably learned that special orders will be issued regarding the implementation of 42 percent reservations for BCs in local elections.
Since the Center has not made any decision on the issue of BC reservations, it is learned that the government is ready to issue a GO with amendments made in Section 285(A) of the Panchayati Raj Act to implement the increased reservations. It is reported that the CM and ministers reviewed the preliminary report in this regard in a meeting held two days ago.
The government has directed the district collectors to complete the reservation process required for the election of wards, sarpanches, MPTCs, MPPs, ZPTCs and ZP chairman in order to release the schedules by Vijayadashami and finalize and send them within two days.
Chief Secretary of the Panchayat Raj Department N. Sridhar and Director of the Department Srujana held a video conference with the collectors of all districts on Sunday. He made key suggestions regarding the finalization of reservations, which is important for the conduct of local elections.
He ordered that full reports be prepared. All the details of the finalized reservation seats should be kept in a sealed cover and the reports should be submitted to the government by Tuesday evening.
The collectors were also advised to make all arrangements to announce the reservations finalized for the respective seats district-wise as soon as the government announces its decision. The collectors were alerted after receiving instructions on the finalization of local elections and reservations.
To this end, meetings will be held with the sub-collectors, Zilla Parishad CEO, Zilla Panchayat Officer, RDOs, Additional Collectors (Local Bodies) and MPDOs on Monday morning. Messages were sent to the concerned officials on Sunday evening to reach the Integrated District Collectorate offices by 9 am.
Meanwhile, the government has provided all the information required for the finalization of reservations to the district collectors.
