Revanth Reddy Demands Vice-President Post for Bandaru Dattatreya

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has again made political waves with his powerful demands directed at the central government. During his recent Delhi visit, Revanth addressed a press conference in which he called for the Vice-President’s position to be entrusted to Bandaru Dattatreya. He directly associated this appointment with empowerment and respect for the Backward Classes (BC) community.

Revanth stressed how the selection of Bandaru Dattatreya as Vice-President would be a symbolic move celebrating the contributions of BCs and maintaining the Telangana people’s pride. Along with this, he highlighted how BC leaders have been marginalized from political leadership, naming BJP’s Bandi Sanjay in his criticism. He also made it clear that if Dattatreya is made the nominee, he himself would approach NDA allies to garner their support for the candidate.

This call places the BJP in a tight spot. While various names have been put forward as possible candidates for Vice-President, Bandaru Dattatreya has never been seriously regarded, thanks in part to his retirement date and completion of his terms as Himachal Pradesh and Haryana Governor.

Still, Revanth Reddy’s action speaks to his calculated deployment of BC concerns to confront the BJP, showing his confidence and forthrightness in politics.
