Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has called on political leaders including N. Chandrababu Naidu, K. Chandrashekar Rao, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, and Pawan Kalyan to support a Telugu candidate in the upcoming Vice Presidential elections. Speaking at a media conference at his Jubilee Hills residence, he emphasized the historic opportunity to appoint a Telugu individual to a key constitutional post for the first time since P.V. Narasimha Rao, urging backing for the NDA-opposition ‘India’ coalition candidate, Justice Sudarsan Reddy.
Revanth Reddy criticized the ruling NDA for allegedly misusing constitutional systems and pointed out the contrasting stance of alliances, with one fighting to protect the Constitution while the other appears intent on undermining it. He appealed to Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members from Telugu states to come together in support of Justice Sudarsan Reddy, calling on parties including TDP, YSRCP, BRS, and Majlis to extend their support to the candidate.
The Chief Minister also urged Telugu leaders to rise above political differences, citing N.T. Rama Rao’s past support for P.V. Narasimha Rao and the collaborative strategy during the Nandyal bypoll. Highlighting Justice Sudarsan Reddy’s background, he noted that the candidate hails from a farmer family and has served the nation as a judge and Lokayukta, underscoring his qualifications and commitment to public service.
