Renowned Actor Mohan Raj Passes Away

Mohan Raj, a prominent actor recognized for his villainous roles in Telugu and various other South Indian languages, has passed away. He took his last breath at his residence in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday.

Several years ago, while performing an action scene in a Telugu film, he sustained an injury to his leg, which adversely affected his career. He was unable to fully recover from this injury. Initially working a government job while pursuing film opportunities, Mohan Raj found significant success after the release of the film Kireedam in 1989, which became a landmark hit in Malayalam cinema, featuring superstar Mohanlal in the lead role. This breakthrough led to numerous offers, and he went on to appear in over 300 films throughout his career.

Mohan Raj also featured in several Telugu films, notably portraying antagonist roles alongside top heroes in the 1990s. He impressed audiences with his performances alongside stars like Balakrishna, Mohan Babu, and Rajasekhar.

His final film appearance was in the psychological thriller Rorschach, starring Mammootty, released two years ago. Due to declining health, he had confined himself to his home. Mohan Raj’s last rites will be conducted tomorrow in Thiruvananthapuram.
