Rekha Gupta Appointed Delhi’s New Chief Minister

In a historic political turn of events, Bharatiya Janata Party’s Rekha Gupta was named the new Chief Minister of Delhi. The news came after the BJP legislature party meeting on Wednesday, the party’s return to power in the national capital after 27 years.

The BJP emerged as the victorious party in the Delhi Assembly elections, retaining just 44 seats out of 70. The results declared on February 8st brought to an end ten years of the Aam Aadmi Party’s rule. Her appointment has been perceived by many as a tactical choice taken by the BJP, where they are taking advantage of her strong leadership experience and her closeness to the party.

The swearing-in ceremony will take place on February 20 at Ramlila Maidan, to which top party leaders, party workers, and thousands of supporters are expected to converge for what will prove to be a lavishly organized function, boosting the party’s resurrection in the capital.
