The stunning poll results in Andhra Pradesh, where the ruling YSRCP was pushed to almost `dust bin’ are surprising everyone. Even its political opponents also didn’t visualise such results. The real hero for this game changer will be Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan.
It was his determination for the last two years to avoid division among anti government votes by forming a coalition of TDP, Jana Sena and BJP helped to reach such magic results. Even TDP was a divided house on joining hands with Jana Sena and BJP till last minute didn’t show any interest in joining with TDP.
Moreover, it was Jana Sena chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy who realized dangerous consequences such a political alliance would be for his party. He tried his best to prevent any such alliance. With provocative accusations and abusive language against Pawan Kalyan, he attempted to halt Pawan Kalyan.
Moreover, he also tried his best to make use of his influence with BJP top leaders to persuade Pawan Kalyan from joining hands with TDP. Even, he offered an alliance with Jana Sena and electoral strategist Prasanth Kishor revealed that he was asked to talk with Pawan Kalyan for an alliance.
Pawan Kalyan was pressured by his own community leaders warning him of joining hands with Chandrababu Naidu. Even BJP brought pressure on him suggesting both Jana Sena and BJP can go to polls declaring him as chief ministerial candidate.
But he can withstand all such provocations and pressures without leaving his political stand. Even on the issue of sharing of seats he adopted a very liberal view and `sacrificed’ several seats offered to him for the sake of BJP.
That’s why Jagan Mohan Reddy particularly focused his attention to ensure defeat of Pawan Kalyan. Despite Jagan’s efforts, resorting to personal insults, and seeing rifts among Kapu leaders, he firmly stood by the alliance.
After TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu’s arrest last year, TDP cadre was in a demoralized state and hardly any leaders came out to roads protesting his arrest. But, it was after Pawan Kalyan went to Rajahmundry jail to meet Naidu and unilaterally announce his decision of alliance with TDP, the political scenario completely changed. This has boosted the morale of the TDP cadre.
