Ranbir Kapoor Reportedly Commands ₹150 Crore for ‘Ramayana’

The upcoming mythological epic Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious and expensive films in Indian cinema history. According to industry reports, lead actor Ranbir Kapoor is being paid a staggering ₹150 crore for portraying the role of Lord Ram. The film is planned as a two-part saga, with Kapoor reportedly charging ₹75 crore for each installment.

Actress Sai Pallavi, who plays the role of Sita, is also said to be receiving a remuneration of approximately ₹12 crore. The film’s production budget is equally noteworthy, with reports suggesting a total outlay of around ₹1,600 crore—₹900 crore for the first part and ₹700 crore for the second—potentially making it the most expensive Indian film ever produced.

Director Nitesh Tiwari, known for successful films such as Dangal and Chhichhore, is leading the project under high expectations. Kannada actor Yash will portray Ravana and is also serving as a co-producer. There is speculation that actress Kajal Aggarwal may play the role of Mandodari, Ravana’s wife.

Currently in production, the film’s first part is targeted for release during Diwali 2026, with the second installment expected to follow in Diwali 2027. Music for the project is being composed by A.R. Rahman.
