Ranbir Kapoor Highlights Importance of Personal Identity for Bollywood Success

Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor, the fourth-generation actor from the legendary Kapoor family, recently stressed that inheriting a film legacy alone does not guarantee success in the industry. Speaking at a public event, he highlighted the need for actors to carve their own identity and earn recognition through talent and hard work.

Ranbir remarked, “I was born into a film legacy, and opportunities came relatively easily. But I have always worked hard because, without individuality and personal recognition, success in this industry is not guaranteed. While we celebrate our family’s achievements, we have also faced failures. One learns as much from setbacks as from victories.”

Reflecting on his upbringing, he described his family as ordinary despite their cinematic background. “Conversations about scenes, songs, and filmmaking were common at home. My grandfather, Prithviraj Kapoor, often said, ‘Filmmaking is like a marriage—it requires trust, collaboration, and faith from everyone involved.’ Whatever you do, it should inspire the next generation; nothing is greater than that,” Ranbir explained.

He also noted that his performances are guided by directors’ creative visions and credited his experience as an assistant director under Sanjay Leela Bhansali for shaping his understanding of cinema.
