The high-budget, star-studded film Ramayana is drawing widespread attention even before its release. Producer Namit Malhotra has been regularly sharing updates about the project, raising expectations among audiences. In a recent interview, he expressed his confidence in the film, stating that if it fails to appeal not only to Indian audiences but also to viewers overseas, it would be considered a failure.
Malhotra added that the team aims to match the scale of Hollywood blockbusters like Avatar and Gladiator. “Our goal is to introduce the story of the Ramayana to the world,” he said.
The film is reportedly being made on a budget of nearly ₹4,000 crore and is directed by Nitish Tiwari. Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi is cast as Sita, and Yash will portray Ravana. The first part of the film is scheduled to release during Diwali 2026, while the second part will follow during Diwali 2027.
Speaking about Indian cinema’s reception globally, Malhotra noted that he has previously been disappointed when the world overlooked Indian films. He believes that Ramayana will change that perception and draw international attention toward India.
