Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone have obtained anticipatory bail from the Rajasthan High Court in a case related to car giant Hyundai Motors. The case was filed by Kirti Singh, a resident of Rajasthan, accusing the two stars, as brand ambassadors of Hyundai, of cheating customers through their endorsements.
As per the complaint, Singh bought a Hyundai Alcazar SUV in 2022 after watching the brand campaigns with Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone. After a few months, the car allegedly started experiencing recurrent technical issues. In spite of several visits to the service center, Singh alleged the firm never addressed the problems, resulting in loss of money and frustration.
After he filed his complaint, an FIR was lodged in Bharatpur against Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and six Hyundai officials. Singh contended that if celebrities have the right to promote a brand, then they also have a right to take responsibility when consumers are dissatisfied with the product.
Reacting to this, the two actors moved the Rajasthan High Court seeking legal protection. On considering the issue, the court granted them anticipatory bail and fixed the next hearing on September 25.
