Director SS Rajamouli’s RRR, broke box office records, and seized the world’s attention and critical acclaim. Fans and the industry were more than excited by the highly palatable dud of a blockbuster sequel. Although initial plans for RRR 2 were put on hold due to commitments, Rajamouli has recently confirmed that the sequel remains very much alive, with story development actively underway. Legendary writer Vijayendra Prasad has also thrown hints about the sequel film, keeping the curiosity alive.
The London premiere of RRR last week at the legendary Royal Albert Hall also generated fan mania. The live music performed by an orchestra during the special screening sent the packed house into an electric buzz. Clichéd, warm moments caught on tape saw top heroes Ram Charan and Jr. NTR and Rajamouli laugh and hug their fans like old friends.
The most lingering view of the evening was when Ram Charan’s wife Upasana Kamineni Konidela playfully asked director Rajamouli whether he was working on RRR 2 at the moment. The query put everyone in stitches, and Rajamouli playfully replied but did not spill any beans. This light-hearted exchange has only created more buzz that the long-awaited sequel is on its way. Ram Charan also posted the video on his Instagram, tagging it, “RRR Forever,” to the appreciation of fans.
In March 2022, when RRR was released, it was an enormous success across the globe. In an earlier event in Chicago, Rajamouli had announced that he has discussed with his father about the plot of the sequel and his father is busy writing the screenplay. Though there is still no update about the release date of the sequel, fans are keeping their fingers crossed for more updates.
