Rahul Dev Clarifies Brother Mukul Dev’s Cause of Death

Actor Rahul Dev has issued a statement clarifying the cause of death of his brother, Bollywood actor Mukul Dev, who passed away recently. Dispelling widespread speculation, Rahul confirmed that Mukul did not die by suicide due to depression, but succumbed to prolonged health issues stemming from poor dietary habits and emotional isolation.

In an interview with an English daily, Rahul Dev revealed that Mukul had been in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for over a week before his passing. “Doctors stated that his deteriorating health was primarily due to years of irregular eating. Once admitted, he stopped eating altogether. He was also battling loneliness and withdrew from professional opportunities,” he said.

Rahul further noted that the death of their father in 2019 had a profound psychological impact on Mukul. “He was deeply affected by our father’s passing, and later, the death of our mother and his separation from his wife intensified his emotional struggles. He became increasingly reclusive and stopped taking care of himself,” Rahul added.

Addressing speculation around Mukul’s fitness and mental state, Rahul said, “Claims that he was unfit are false—he was capable of running half-marathons. The real tragedy is that, after losing our parents, he had very little support. Those speculating today—did they even visit him in the hospital?”

Mukul Dev began his career in television and went on to act in several notable Hindi films such as Son of Sardaar, Jai Ho, and Yamla Pagla Deewana. In Telugu cinema, he gained recognition for his antagonist roles in films like Krishna, Adhurs, Siddham, Nippu, and Bhai.
