Raghuram Krishnam Raju seeks To Identify Accused In custodial Torture Case

AP Deputy Speaker Raghurama Krishnam Raju has urged the Ongole SP to give him an opportunity to identify the accused in the custodial torture case, Kamepalli Tulasi Babu. Police earlier summoned the accused for interrogation on Friday afternoon, in the wake of an allegation that he tortured Raghurama, who had undergone a heart surgery, by sitting on his chest.

The Deputy Speaker has written a letter to the SP A R Damodar saying that he will attend the interrogation to identify Tulasi Babu. Raghurama said that some people told him that a tall man weighing 115 kg was sitting on his chest when he was subjected to custodial torture by CID officials on the night of May 14, 2021, and he believes that person to be Tulasi Babu.

He said that he had seen in the newspapers that he was called for questioning in his case on the 3rd of this month. He said that Tulasi Babu, who is from Prakasam district, was the Chief Collection Agent and right-hand man of CID Chief Sunil Kumar for corruption at that time. He said that he is currently working in the office of MLA Venigandla Ramu in Gudivada Town.

Meanwhile, the court has rejected the anticipatory bail petition filed by Dr. Prabhavathi, the 5th accused in the case and former Superintendent of Guntur General Hospital. of Raghuramakrishna Raju. The arguments on the petition filed by Dr. Prabhavathi seeking anticipatory bail without arrest by the police in this case have recently concluded.

She stated that she, as the chairman of the medical board, had given the report based on the reports given by other doctors on the board in this case. She said that she was innocent and was ill. In this context, she sought anticipatory bail.

Meanwhile, the victim Raghurama filed an implied petition to be heard by his lawyers. His lawyers alleged that Dr. Prabhavathi had become an accomplice in the attempted murder case against him in custody and that she had tampered with the report given by the medical team of the Guntur Government Hospital with malicious intent.

On the other hand, Joint Director of Prosecutions Rajendra Prasad, appearing for the prosecution in this case, told the court that Prabhavathi had not acted in accordance with the constitution and conspired with the other accused. After considering the arguments, the court refused to grant anticipatory bail to Prabhavathi.
