India experienced a significant blow at the Paris Olympics on Thursday as several top athletes were eliminated from their events. Boxer Nikhat Zareen, star shuttler PV Sindhu, and the Indian doubles pair of Satwik and Chirag have all been knocked out of the competition.
PV Sindhu was defeated by China’s He Bingjiao in the pre-quarterfinals of the women’s singles, with scores of 19-21, 14-21. Despite her strong efforts, Sindhu could not overcome her opponent’s aggression. Sindhu, who secured a silver medal at the Rio Olympics and a bronze at the Tokyo Olympics, has struggled with form and injuries in recent times. Although she topped her group stage with two consecutive wins, the World No. 9 was unable to advance further.
