One of the reasons why Allu Arjun has been receiving widespread criticism from the general public is because of the delayed response towards the stampede mishap. Even though the incident came to light early in the morning on the release day of Pushpa 2, the actor and his team responded after two days. Moreover, they didn’t visit the victim’s family and the kid who was hospitalized due to major injury.
Allu Arjun announced 25 lakhs ex-gratia to the family and also promised to bear the hospital expenses of Sri Teja. But, the financial help is said to have not extended completely and this has further received flak after it was revealed by the media. A couple of days ago, director Sukumar also visited the hospital and announced 5 lakhs donation on his behalf.
Now, Pushpa 2 producers met the victim’s family today evening and handed over a cheque worth 50 Lakhs to Revathi’s husband. They enquired about the health condition of Sri Teja and assured that his medical expenses will be borne by the production house. Producers Naveen Yerneni, Ravi Shankar and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy visited the hospital and spoke to the media after taking with the family.
While it is appreciable that the producers came forward to lend a helping hand to the family of the deceased, but it is a bit too late reaction given how the issue turned into a massive controversy and led to the arrest of Allu Arjun. Though there is no obligation on the part of the production house to support the family financially, but they should have done this gesture on the day when the incident happened on the next day which could have ensured that the situation doesn’t this worse.
As Allu Arjun has got the excuse that he couldn’t meet the victim’s family due to legal issues, the production house could have immediately responded and make sure that the issue doesn’t spiral further into a political controversy.
Anyway they came forward to announce the financial help. Had they done this earlier, it could have been better for both the reputation of the production house and the hero. Unfortunately, it is too late. Already, the Telangana government also promised to look after the family in all aspects. Several other donations have already been announced.
